Our Farming Practices
At Bowen Family Farm, we practice regenerative agriculture through rotational grazing. Our goal is to provide the best quality animals for your family while also improving the land. We currently raise grassfed grass finished beef and pasture raised pork. We'd love to provide you and your family clean healthy meat right off of our farm!
Pasture Raised Pork
Here at Bowen Family Farm, we pride ourselves on raising our pigs as naturally as possible and providing you with high-quality, hormone-free pork for your family. We achieve this by practicing regenerative agriculture. We purchase our piglets from a local breeder and place them on pasture in an electric-fence training pen for two weeks. They are then let out into a paddock with other pigs to forage. They are moved every 7-12 days onto new ground, depending on the size of the paddock and the need for disturbance in each paddock. This allows the pigs the opportunity to eat grass, roots, and critters that they would naturally consume. They are supplemented with quality feed from a local feed mill as well to ensure they are getting all the nutrients they need.
They are never given any hormones or shots.
Pork is sold by the cut and in shares.
All pork is processed at a USDA inspected Facility.
Our Cattle
We raise Southpoll and Angus cattle. The cattle are moved to new paddocks of fresh grass routinely. This helps rebuild the land by concentrating manure into weak areas of pasture and trampling of unwanted weeds while also giving the cows fresh forage. We hope to offer grassfed grass finished beef soon!
