About Bowen Family Farm

It all started with one 4x4x6 fence post back in 2016. My wife and I had a wild idea—to raise a couple of pigs for ourselves.

My wife grew up around horses, but neither of us had much farming experience. Still, we dove in headfirst. We built an 8x16 hog pen, added a little shed-roof shelter, and made a sturdy feeder out of 2x10’s. For months, we fed our pigs grain and watered them from a 55-gallon drum.

When it came time to take them to the butcher, both pigs escaped the pen—sending us on a chaotic chase around the yard that came with a few words not fit for young ears! But when we finally got that pork back, everything changed. The flavor was unlike anything we had ever tasted, and the satisfaction of raising it ourselves made it all worthwhile. We knew right then—we were hooked.

Growing and Learning

Fast forward eight years, and we’ve learned a lot along the way. Our pigs now roam wooded paddocks, guided by a single strand of electric fencing. What started as a small backyard project has grown into something much greater—a way of life we love and are proud to share.

Through hard work and faith, we built our very own poultry exempt processor, making us one of only six licensed processors in the state of Georgia. This allows us to sell our pasture-raised, non-GMO chickens directly from our farm to the families in our community.

Alongside our pasture-raised pork, we’re honored to provide high-quality, responsibly raised meats for people who truly care about where their food comes from.
